MOSCOW, August 24 - RAPSI. A district court in Moscow has denied protective measures to the relatives of Ivan Agafonov, who reportedly was killed with one punch by mixed martial arts champion Rasul Mirzayev, the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI) reports from the courtroom.
At the hearing in which the protective measures were considered, Agafonovs relatives stated that they fear for their lives and health, and requested protection. According to the judge, however, the issue of protective measures is beyond the courts competence.
On August 22, the court decided to release the suspect on 5 million ruble ($172,000) bail.
However, the next day, the Moscow City Court overturned the bail ruling, and remanded the issue for another hearing.
