KIEV, August 26 - RAPSI. Alexander Savochenko. Kievs Pechersky District Court has received a claim filed by former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who is currently in detention, against President Viktor Yanukovich.
In the claim, Tymoshenko has asserted that, in 2007, then-Prime Minister Yanukovich promoted entering into unprofitable gas agreements with Russia, which resulted in huge economic losses for Ukraine.
Tymoshenko has been charged with abuse of power in connection with her approval of a Russian gas contract in 2009, when she was Ukraines Prime Minister. The Ukrainian government maintains that the 2009 gas contract severely damaged the national economy.
