MOSCOW, September 21 - RIA Novosti. Russia will adopt the global practice of confiscating unlawfully acquired property with time, Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov said in his address to the State Duma on Wednesday.
Russia should move to integrate accepted international methods of fighting corruption, he added.
"My conviction is that sooner or later we will have to discuss confiscation when in a criminal case we suspect that certain property was acquired in a criminal way," Konovalov said.
He also said in the United States and other countries such property is confiscated from people who have not yet been found guilty by court as well as from relatives, friends and acquaintances.
"It must be done, but wisely, timely and gradually," Konovalov said.
