MOSCOW, September 27 - RAPSI, Dmitry Shchitov. The patent disputes chamber has confirmed its denial of the "SxS" trademark registration to the Sony Corporation, the patent service reported.
The Sony Corporation applied to the Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks to register "SxS" as a trademark for ninth class goods (data storage devices).
The service refused to register it on November 19 and the patent disputes chamber upheld the decision.
The services argues that the combination "only consists of letters and a mathematical symbol or the letter 'x', has no specific recognizable graphics and lacks any picturesque elements."
Further, the applicant has not provided information that its memory cards marked with "SxS" were actually sold in Russia and are associated by consumers with the Sony Corporation.
