VORONEZH, November 19 - RAPSI. Special services have clamped down on illegal firearm production ring in Voronezh; the confiscated arsenal may have been intended for terrorists, the Federal Security Service reports on Monday.

"Following a special operation by the Voronezh Federal Security Service, five members of a criminal group which organized the sale of firearms in the Central Federal District were detained," the report reads.

Law enforcement officers shut down an underground repair shop and confiscated 5.6mm Nagant revolvers, silencers and over a thousand bullets.

The service reported that members of the criminal group conspired to transfer the weapons to different hiding places with a view to sending them on to Moscow. It is said that interest was shown in buying the weapons by individuals with terrorist intentions.

The investigators have initiated criminal cases on counts of "organized and attempted crime," and "the illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, parts of weapons, ammunition or explosive devices." The individuals face up to eight years in prison.
