CARACAS, April 16 - RAPSI, Dmitry Znamensky. Secretary General of the Organization of American States Jose Miguel Insulza on Monday supported the opposition's call for a recount of all votes after the recent presidential election in Venezuela.
According to preliminary results, the ruling party's candidate, Nicolas Maduro, won the election with 50.66%, while opposition candidate Henrique Capriles Radonski won 49.07%. However, Capriles is reluctant to recognize defeat.
"As for the need to verify and recount the votes, Secretary-General Insulza has offered the support of the regional body's election experts for a recount in the context of deep division and political polarization," the OAS said in a statement.
