MOSCOW, April 22 (RAPSI) - Six people died and one was wounded in a shootout in Belgorod, a city in southwest Russia, a press officer with the Interior Ministry's Belgorod department told RIA Novosti on Monday.

The source said a man driving a dark BMW stopped at the shop for hunters and fishermen around 2 p.m. Moscow time on April 22, stepped out of his vehicle and then began shooting people in the street before entering the shop.

"He killed four people in the shop and two on the street, wounding one. The wounded individual was taken to a hospital," the source said.  Police also said a 14-year-old girl was among the dead.

"Some time later, the BMW X5 in which the suspect allegedly escaped was found in the opposite end of the city. We are still searching for the man," he said.

According to the police report, shootout occured during a robbery attempt.
