MOSCOW, August 27 (RAPSI) – Based on the request of Belarusian authorities, Interpol has issued a warrant for the arrest of the top Russian managers of the Belarusian Potash company, RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.
“The Investigative Committee has received confirmation from Interpol headquarters in Lyon that an international arrest warrant had been issued for top-managers of the Belarusian Potash company Oleg Petrov, Konstantin Solodovnikov, Igor Evstratov, and Dmitry Samoylov,” the agency quoted Pavel Traulko, representative of Belarus' Investigative Committee, as having said.
OAO Uralkali, the world's largest potash producer, has a 50% stake in BPC, and OAO Belaruskali has a 45% ownership share. The remaining 5% belongs to the Belarusian railway, according to BPC's website.
Vladislav Baumgertner, Uralkali chief executive officer, on Monday was detained in Belarus where he has been charged with abuse of power. According to the Belarusian authorities, the criminal case was launched as a result of a probe into abuse of power allegations that led to grave damage to the public interests of Belarus, and damages to Belaruskali and BPC. Uralkali reacted swiftly, blaming Belarus authorities for the provocation.
