MOSCOW, October 17 (RAPSI) – Transparency International has put United Company Rusal (Rusal), a Moscow-based aluminum producer, on top of Russia’s list of its 52-page report, Transparency in Corporate Reporting: Assessing Emerging Market Multinationals.
On Thursday, Transparency International presented the report which scored 100 of the fastest-growing companies based in 16 emerging markets.
The companies were evaluated by publicly available information about anti-corruption measures, transparency in reporting, how the companies structure themselves and the amount of financial information they provide for each country they operate in.
Three quarters of the emerging market companies scored less than 5 out of 10, where 0 is the least transparent and 10 is the most transparent.
India's Tata Communications has scored 7.1 and was placed on an absolute top in the report. China's Chery auto maker and Mexican home appliance maker Mabe gained the poorest score.
Besides Rusal, Russia is represented in the report by OAO GMK Norilsk Nickel (5.2), OAO Gazprom (4.7), Evraz (4.5), OAO Severstal (3.0), Alfa Group (2.7), and OAO Lukoil (2.2).
