MEXICO CITY, February 21 (RAPSI) – Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Thursday instructed Minister of Communications and Information Delcy Rodríguez to notify CNN of an administrative investigation of its activity as a result of which it could be expelled from the country.
“They [CNN] want to show the world that a civil war is raging in Venezuela, while in fact people are working, studying and building their homeland,” the local media cite President Maduro as saying.
The president said they are considering the possibility of expelling CNN from the country. “Enough war propaganda, I won't accept war propaganda against Venezuela. If they don't rectify themselves, out of Venezuela, CNN, out,” he said as quoted by BBC.
Two days ago, President Maduro said Colombia’s NTN24 cable news network was pulled off the air, and before that he accused the foreign media, including Agence France Presse (AFP), of manipulating public opinion. Both media outlets broadcast coverage of anti-government and pro-government protests in which six people were killed and dozens were injured.
