MOSCOW, March 26 (RAPSI) - Police have arrested Taisiya Baskayeva, a Moscow Regional Law Chamber attorney, on 42 counts of fraud, the Investigative Committee reported Wednesday.
“Investigators found that on February 19, 2013, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruled that 42 former and current Russian Interior Ministry employees in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania were to be awarded over 26.5 million rubles ($737,512) each in compensation for serving in the republic's conflict zone. The workers were represented by a Moscow Regional Law Chamber attorney who deceptively transferred the money to her personal bank account,” the committee reports in a statement.
Baskayeva was put on the international wanted list and subsequently arrested in the Moscow Region.
