MOSCOW, July 1 (RAPSI) – The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) has unblocked torrent tracker Rutracker.ru and several other torrent resources after they deleted pirated content, the regulator announced on its website.
Access to Rutracker.ru was blocked in December 2013 for posting links to films the exclusive rights to which belong to Central Partnership Sales House, a major Russian producer and distributor of film and television products. The regulator sent the first of 13 emails, in Russian and English, ordering the tracker to delete the illegal content on September 9.
“Since the management of online resources rutor.org, rutracker.ru and nnm-club.me have restricted access to the films posted in violation of copyright, Roskomnadzor has decided to unblock access to these resources,” the agency said in a statement.
Roskomnadzor also said that its experts continued to monitor these sites to confirm the lack of pirated video content.
The antipiracy law was adopted in August 2013 and initially only protected films and television series. Under the law, the Moscow City Court is the only judicial body that can accept lawsuits filed by copyright holders to block a website that violates a copyright.
