ROME, August 6 (RAPSI) – The Italian police have arrested Russian citizen Yekaterina Tyurina, 38. Tyurina will face embezzlement charges in a case involving 82 million rubles in Russia, RIA Novosti said, citing Italy’s Il Messaggero newspaper.

According to the newspaper’s sources, Tyurina, who was born in Moscow and who is currently a resident of the Czech Republic, was arrested Monday evening in the town of Lignano Sabbiadoro in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region (northeastern Italy). The warrant for her arrest was issued in March by Moscow’s Tverskoi District Court.

She was arrested after arriving at a local seaside resort where she planned to spend a vacation with her family, Il Messaggero notes.

Tyurina faces major embezzlement charges, the Italian media report. From November 2005 until April 2006, she and several other suspects used fake documents to obtain state benefits for property they did not own. These alleged actions inflicted substantial financial losses on the shareholders of one company, Il Messaggero writes.

RIA Novosti was unable to confirm these reports at either the Russian or Italian diplomatic missions.
