MOSCOW, October 28 (RAPSI) – Russia’s Investigative Committee warns mass media against baseless allegations concerning the death of Total CEO Cristophe de Margerie, RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday, citing the committee’s official spokesman Vladimir Markin.
“I must stress that only the results of the official forensic tests, investigative process and findings of the Interstate Aviation Committee will provide the basis for establishing the reason why the plane crashed, and who’s responsible,” Markin stated, without elaborating which allegations made by the media he meant.
Total CEO Christophe de Margerie died in the crash of his Falcon 50 private jet on the evening of October 23 at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport along with three crew members, all French citizens. The aircraft, which was scheduled to depart to Paris, hit a snow removal vehicle during takeoff.
Besides the snowplow driver and the leading engineer, the list of suspects in the criminal negligence case includes the airport's flight executive officer, an air traffic control intern and her supervisor.
