MOSCOW, June 2 (RAPSI) - Russia will extend a ban on Western food imports if economic sanctions imposed on the country stay in place, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich told journalists on Tuesday.
On August 7, 2014, as a response measure, Russia restricted food imports from the countries that initiated sanctions, including the US, the EU, Canada, Australia and Norway. Among the banned products are beef, pork, poultry, sausage and ham, fish, vegetables, fruit, dairy and other products. The restrictions were put in place for one year.
Dvorkovich noted that Russia will act in accordance with the actions of its partners that imposed the sanctions.
“If the sanctions are not cancelled, the embargo will stay as well. We have no reason to lift it. There may be some adjustments but they occurred last year when we excluded some products from the embargo list and included others. Adjustments are possible but there will be no radical changes, the deputy prime minister said.
