MOSCOW, March 9 (RAPSI) – More than 13,500 people committed different crimes were arrested in Russia in 2016, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev said on Thursday during the ministry’s annual extended session.

About 500,000 administrative violations were suppressed. The taken actions made it possible to boost private material safety of citizens on the streets and in other public spaces. Total amount of offenses committed in such places decreased by 10.5%, Kolokoltsev stated.

Amount of crimes connected with intended bodily injury dropped by 10%, the rate of assault related to robbery declined by nearly 20%, the number of robberies decreased by 16%, according to the minister.
