MOSCOW, September 10 (RAPSI) – The halls for jury trials in Moscow courts will be equipped by audio and video recording equipment, the Moscow City Court’s deputy chairman Dmitry Fomin has told the Criminal Process journal.

According to Fomin, on the average a district court in Moscow may receive from 5 to 10 cases involving jurors because mostly those are related to involuntary manslaughter and deliberate infliction of grave bodily harm leading to death. These cases are relatively a small portion of all criminal cases.

The court’s deputy chairman also noted that jury trials require much more attention and concentration from a judge because each document improperly read by a prosecutor or an attorney may lead to annulment of a sentence. That’s why all court halls for jury trials are going to be equipped with special devices in order to resolve disputes on procedural violations in higher courts.
