MOSCOW, Decembver 13 (RAPSI) – The Federal Antimonopoly Service has launched a case against large retailers like Eldorado, Ulmart and thers over increase in prices for digital set-up boxes, the watchdog’s statement reads.
FAS believes that the retailers may have violated law on protection of competition.

In Russia there is a transit from analog TV signal model to a digital one, starting with the Tver Region this December. Other regions will follow suit and citizens who don’t have the appropriate equipment yet should buy it.

The antimonopoly watchdog monitored prices for this product in Russia in June-December 2018. It was found that while available supply of the product in general was growing, the same could not be said for cheap set-boxes. Their prices were raised by up to 1,000% in some cases. While price pf expensive ones raised by up to 83.9%. Some set-up boxes, conversely dropped in prince.
