MOSCOW, March 26 (RAPSI) – Russia’s ombudsman Tatiana Moskalkova on Tuesday met the Council of Europe senior officials in Strasbourg and voiced the state position concerning human rights protection, her press service told RAPSI.

According to the statement, Moskalkova and the Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland discussed problems of enhancing cooperation between Russia and the organization in the line of human rights diplomacy, human rights protection and humanitarian affairs.

Jagland pointed the importance of meaningful cooperation for the sake of peace and the rule of law despite arising travails and variety of opinions. Dialog is the only way to protect human rights, Moskakova wrote on her Instagram page.

Earlier, Moskalkova met the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović. She is also expected to meet with President of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) Guido Raimondi, Director of the Office of the Directorate General of Programmes of the Council of Europe Verena Taylor and Director General of Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe Christos Giakoumopoulos.
