MOSCOW, August 8 (RAPSI) – The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS) has opened an antitrust investigation into Apple Inc. over alleged abuse by the corporation of its iOS apps distribution market power, according to a statement published on the watchdog’s website.
The case was launched on the application of Kaspersky Lab cybersecurity company alleging that Apple unfoundedly rejected the versions of Kaspersky Safe Kids (KSK) parent control program. As a result, a version of KSK lost an essential part of its functionality, the claim reads.
In the meantime, Apple released its own app Screen Time congruent with the parent apps in capabilities, the watchdog states.
The case will be heard on September 13.
