MOSCOW, January 20 (RAPSI) – President Vladimir Putin has offered a deputy chief of the Russian Investigative Committee Igor Krasnov as a candidate for the post of Prosecutor General, the Kremlin press service has told RAPSI.

The Federation Council is to consider the candidacy.

Igor Krasnov has investigated cases over attempted murder of Anatoly Chubais, Chairman of the Executive Board of Rusnano, killing of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and Anastasia Baburova and other high-profile cases.

Since 2006, Russia’s Prosecutor General has been Yury Chaika.
