MOSCOW, February 11 (RAPSI) – The Supreme Court of Russia proposes to empower jurors to examine economic crimes cases, the Supreme Court Chair Vyacheslav Lebedev said addressing a judicial conference on Tuesday.
Taking into account the fact that Russian courts have sufficient experience in examining cases tried by jury, Lebedev noted, it was possible to extend this procedure to the criminal cases over all especially serious crimes and economic crimes on condition the materials thereof contain no state secrets.
The Supreme Court holds a judicial conference devoted to the results of the activities of the court system of the Russian Federation in 2019 and discussion of its plans for year 2020.
