MOSCOW, April 15 (RAPSI) – Russian veterans’ organizations have requested President Vladimir Putin to postpone the May 9 Victory Day Parade in Moscow due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The global situation has led to the fact that there no health safety guaranties by May 9. That’s why the veterans’ communities have sent a request to the President to adjourn the parade as its holding during the pandemic may become a threat to the human health and life, according to a copy of the veterans’ application obtained by RAPSI.
The organizations believe that such a decision will be the sight of respect to veterans, who had fought for their homeland’s future, military personnel currently on duty and all citizens celebrating the Victory Day, the letter reads.
The request has been signed by 12 heads of public organizations.
