MOSCOW, June 1 (RAPSI, Alena Savelyeva) – The number of child rights protection checks upon journalists’ reports increased fivefold this year, according to the Russian minors’ ombudsman Anna Kuznetsova.

The checks were conducted following the journalists’ reports in mass media and on social network platforms. Therefore, cooperation between media and child rights commissioner’s office was intensified fivefold, Kuznetsova said during the online news conference dedicated to the International Children's Day.

Earlier, the omdusman submitted an annual report on the work results to President Vladimir Putin. In 2019, the number of applications filed with her office increased by 27.2% and reached 8,661.
