MOSCOW, June 14 (RAPSI) — The Zaporozhye region was integrated into the Russian banking system, according to Vladimir Rogov, a member of the administration of the region.
"The banking system is already integrated into the Russian Federation," the official said.
The Bank of International Settlements has began to work in the Zaporozhye region, he added.
Rogov also noted that negotiations are underway to open local branches of one of the largest banks in Russia, but did not specify which financial organization he was talking about.
After that, money transfers and banking services will be the same as in any other Russian region, Rogov said.
The administration in Zaporozhye region plans to stage a referendum later this year on joining Russia.
Earlier, legislative body of the self-declared Lugansk People's Republic unanimously adopted the law allowing Russian Promsvyazbank to start operating on the territory of the republic. The adoption of the law is due to the urgent process of integration into the economy of the Russian Federation, according to Maria Gerasimova, Deputy Chairman of the State Bank of the republic.
