Zero 2013 executions in Europe, Central Asia as global rate leapt 15%

Europe and Central Asia boasted zero capital punishments for the first time in four years in 2013, while global rates soared by 15%, and antiquated methods such as beheadings and crucifixions persevered in certain parts of the world.
