MOSCOW, May 10 - RAPSI. President Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma a draft law proposing the cancellation of the age limit for the Supreme Court chairman, the Kremlin reported on Thursday.

"The draft law proposes removing the standards of federal constitutional laws and federal laws dealing with the maximum age for judges for the Supreme Court chairman," the Kremlin said.

Vyacheslav Lebedev is the Supreme Court chairman. He is 69. The maximum age for the federal court position is 70.

Additionally, the draft law proposes making amendments to remove the restrictions dealing with appointments of the Supreme Court chairman and his deputies after their terms expire.
