MOSCOW, December 1 (RAPSI) – Prosecutor General’s Office is opening an investigation into the Central Bank of Russia upon request of a group of lawmakers who blame the bank for measures aimed at strengthening the national currency, the rouble, RIA Novosti reports on Monday.

Russian ruble has plummeted this year against the dollar, after an exchange of sanction measures between US, EU and Russia, over the ongoing hostilities in Eastern Ukraine. In October, the Central Bank spent $30 billion to stabilize the national currency and more than $110 billion since the start of the year.
