MOSCOW, August 30 - RAPSI, Sergei Feklyunin. The Moscow Commercial Court has registered an appeal filed by Russias leading film distributer Walt Disney Studios Sony Pictures Releasing (WDSSPR) against a lower-court decision to charge the company an additional 73.455 million rubles ($2.56 million) in taxes and penalties, the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI).

The Moscow Commercial Court in July held against the film distributers claim to invalidate the Federal Tax Services decision dated December 31, 2010 to charge the company over 32 million rubles ($1.1 million) in additional profit tax and over 24 million rubles in VAT.

WDSSPR was also ordered to pay fees and penalties.

RAPSI has yet to obtain comments from the parties.

The appeal hearing date has not yet been scheduled.

WDSSPR is a joint venture of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International and Sony Pictures Releasing International. WDSSPR distributes films in Russia and the CIS.
