MOSCOW, January 31 - RAPSI, Sergei Feklyunin. Baltika Brewery's petition to revoke the patent watchdog's refusal to register the Zatecky Gus trademark will be heard at a hearing set in the the Moscow Commercial Court for February 29.
Baltika, which has produced Zatecky Gus beer since 2009, sought to register the trademark for beer produced from hop planted in the town of Zatec in the Czech Republic.
Rospatent refused to register the trademark on the grounds that the reference to the Czech town may mislead people as to where the beer was produced.
Baltika appealed Rospatent's resolution and filed a petition on January 12. Baltika seeks to register the trademark and the label carrying the "Zatecky Gus" name.
Baltika Brewery operates 11 breweries in Russia and one brewery in Azerbaijan. Baltika owns over 40 brands. It exports products to 70 countries and accounts for roughly 70% of Russia's beer exports.
