MOSCOW, March 26 - RIA Novosti. The Moscow Commercial Court has suspended until May 16 its hearing of the Lavina Concert agency's $3,000 lawsuit against MTV for violating its rights to a Viktor Tsoy song.
Tsoy was a renowned Soviet rock musician and the lead singer of the band "Kino."
The plaintiff believes the channel used Tsoy's song in a program, which violated the plaintiffs exclusive rights to his text, music and performance.
The defendant earlier said in court that MTV did not use the work in dispute.
The Moroz Music company is acting as a third party in the case. The musician's heirs assigned the copyrights to Moroz Music, which eventually assigned the rights to the plaintiff. Moroz was involved in the case in February, but the plaintiff failed to hand over its claim to the company upon the courts order. In this regard, the judge postponed the hearing again.
MTV Russia is part of the ProfMedia holding, established in 1997.
