MOSCOW, April 11 - RAPSI, Fedor Shatsillo. B.O.R.K. Elektronik GmbH (Bork) filed a lawsuit to defend its rights to the brand against Tehnosila, one of Russia's largest retail chains selling electronic and household appliances.
ServiceTrade, Tehnosila's operating company, is a defendant in the lawsuit. Bork seeks to recover five million rubles ($168.710).
The plaintiff believes that the HANSA air fresheners distributed by ServiceTrade are confusingly similar with Bork's products. In its lawsuit the company requests to prohibit the use of the air fresheners' trademark, remove fresheners from sale and destroy as well as compensate for the inflicted damage.
Earlier, Bork also required suspending the Internet websites, through which ServiceTrade distributed products, as part of interim measures.
The lawsuit was filed with the Moscow Commercial Court, the next hearing will be held on May 15.
Tehnosila is a leading retail chain selling electronic and household appliances. The company was founded in 1993 and is based in Moscow, the Russian Federation. Tehnosila comprises 100 stores in 60 cities. The company operates in seven federal districts of Russia. In 2010 its turnover amounted to $850 million.
