MOSCOW, April 17 - RAPSI, Saria Kiut. A Moscow court has rejected a complaint against investigator Boris Kiris, who, according to lawyer Igor Vasin, failed to include an independent experts' report in the Sergei Magnitsky tax evasion case.
"In the report, experts conclude that Magnitsky's prosecution was unlawful and state that the investigators included individuals directly interested in the case," said Vasin.
Kibis argued that the report had no direct bearing on the case and therefore requested for the complaint to be dismissed.
Magnitsky, an auditor for the Hermitage Capital Management Fund, was charged with involvement in a large-scale corporate tax evasion. He died in a Moscow pretrial detention center on November 16, 2009, after spending nearly a year behind bars. His death has evoked public outcry.
