ST. PETERSBURG, April 23 - RAPSI. A woman has filed a petition with the Constitutional Court to invalidate a legal ruling prohibiting women from working as metro train drivers.
The woman said she has been applying to the St. Petersburg metropolitan for the job for years, but has been denied repeatedly.
The metro management referred to a government order dated February 25, 2000 concerning the list of hazardous jobs prohibited to women, she noted in her application. Specifically, the law prohibits women from being employed as metro train drivers, she added.
The plaintiff maintains that the rules contradict the Labor Code and the Constitution.
