WARSAW, July 2 - RAPSI. The Russian Embassy in Poland has asked the Warsaw Court of Appeals to hasten its consideration of the cases against Russian football fans for taking part in riots during the UEFA Euro 2012, the embassy told RIA Novosti on Monday.
The fighting broke out on June 12, as Russia faced off against Poland in the Euro 2012 games. The two teams' fans clashed.
Last week, three Russians appealed sentences handed down by Polish courts. They were sentenced to one, two and three months in prison for taking part in the riots. The appeal of only one of those convicted men will be heard on July 10, the embassy said.
Another four Russians are waiting for the trial in an investigative isolation ward. The court has extended their custody terms after giving the investigators more time to gather evidence.
One of the arrested individuals needs medical assistance. He has diabetes and requires daily shots of insulin.
