MOSCOW, March 11 (RAPSI) – The Russian State Duma Committee on Property recommended during a meeting Tuesday that a bill on property-forfeiture procedure should be adopted in its first reading.

The bill, which proposes amendments to the federal property-privatization law, focuses on the management of forfeited property.

The State Property Management Agency (Rosimushchestvo) is authorized to sell forfeited property and in turn to transfer the proceeds from such sales to the federal treasury.

This procedure has not been carved out under federal law, opening the door to abuse, according to a cover sheet attached to the bill.
