DONETSK, October 3 (RAPSI) – The authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic have declared a tax amnesty, according to the statement made by Republic’s minister of Revenue and Taxes Aleksandr Timofeev on Friday.
The minister said that entities start to pay taxes after a temp treaty establishing a tax system is signed, which already happened yesterday.
Timofeev also added that the People’s Republic has no qualms against entities that weren’t paying taxes to Kiev.
Ukraine has been engulfed in a violent internal conflict in the southeastern Donetsk region since mid-April, when Kiev began its military operation against federalists. The conflict claimed the lives of more than 3,500 people, according to the UN.
The sides agreed on a ceasefire at a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine held in Minsk on September 5.
Since the establishment of the ceasefire regime, the conflicting sides have repeatedly accused each other of violating the agreement. However, the OSCE stated that the truce was generally holding.
