MOSCOW, November 9 (RAPSI) – The Moscow City Court has ruled that Rutracker.org, one of Russia's most popular torrent trackers, must be completely blocked, the court’s spokesperson Ulyana Solopova told RAPSI.
According to Solopova, the court granted a lawsuit filed by Eksmo Publishing House. The website will be blocked in 30 days if the defendant doesn’t appeal the court ruling, Solopova added.
The anti-piracy law took effect in Russia on August 1, 2013, despite protests from Internet companies. It sets out the legal grounds and procedure for limiting access to websites that distribute movies and TV films in violation of copyright.
The law also includes rules for bringing to account or condoning information brokers (Internet and hosting providers).
