MOSCOW, April 27 (RAPSI) - The daughter of Boris Nemtsov, Zhanna, has filed a motion to resume investigation into the politician’s murder, RIA Novosti reported on Wednesday citing lawyer Vadim Prokhorov.
According to Prokhorov, investigation procedure has been violated. As a rule, the main criminal case must be launched after commission of a crime. As and when needed, other criminal cases against alleged perpetrators of a crime should be severed from it while the main investigation is underway, Prokhorov explained.
In this matter, investigators have separated the case against alleged contractors of the murder and are continuing to investigate it while the main case has been closed, he said.
“We have filed a motion seeking to overturn decision on closing the criminal case, reopen inquiry, afterwards to separate the case against actual perpetrators of the crime and then to submit it to court,” Prokhorov said. “This technical infringement is aimed to create an illusion that the case has been solved,” the lawyer added.
Zhanna Nemtsova also requests to bring official charges against Ruslan Geremeyev, a former Chechen Interior Ministry officer is suspected of complicity in organizing the murder, and his nephew Artur Geremeyev who owned the apartment where alleged killers were based.
Nemtsov was murdered in central Moscow on the night of February 28. In the 1990s, the politician held a number of high-ranking posts in the Russian Government. In the 2000s, he joined the opposition.
Pretrial investigation into the case has been completed. Zaur Dadayev, brothers Anzor and Shadid Gubashev, Temerlan Eskerkhanov and Khamzat Bakhayev have been charged with contract murder and illegal acquisition, carrying and keeping of weapons.
Alleged organizers of the murder still remain under investigation. Ruslan Mukhudinov, a former officer in Chechen Interior Ministry and alleged mastermind of the murder placed on the international wanted list.
