MOSCOW, July 15 (RAPSI, Diana Gutsul) – Convicted defendant in the Bolotnaya riots case, Sergei Krivov, had served his sentence and was released from prison, his attorney Vyacheslav Makarov told RAPSI on Friday.
Over 400 people were arrested and scores injured in the Bolotnaya Square protest that turned violent in May 2012. Dozens were later charged with inciting mass riots and using violence against law enforcement officers.
The riot organizers, Sergei Udaltsov and Leonid Razvozzhayev, were sentenced to 4.5 years in prison. Other participants received smaller terms. Several defendants were pardoned; one has been sent to compulsory mental treatment.
In February 2014, Moscow’s Zamoskvoretsky District Court handed down to eight defendants in the case sentences ranging from suspended 3 years and 3 months to 4 years in prison. Krivov received the longest term; he was sentenced to 4 years in jail.
