MOSCOW, February 20 (RAPSI) – Moscow’s Simonovsky District Court on Monday sentenced VIP-Stroyengineering company’s CEO Vadim Mitryakov to 4 years in prison for embezzling 1.3 billion rubles ($22.6 million) during the Vostochny Cosmodrome construction, RAPSI learnt from the court's press-service on Monday.
Investigators believe that between September 2013 and June 2015, Mitryakov, acting in collusion with his accomplices, submitted to Spetsstroytechnologii company under Spetsstroy of Russia forged documents which allowed them to win the tender for construction of housing and transportation facilities of the Cosmodrome. Then VIP-Stroyengineering concluded a construction contract for the show of executing works worth over 562 million rubles ($9.8 million); the rest 1.3 billion rubles were embezzled, according to investigation.
Mitryakov has pleaded guilty to embezzlement.
