MOSCOW, April 27 (RAPSI) – The Supreme Court of Russia has upheld the sentence for Ismail Emirov, found guilty of membership in ISIS terrorist organization prohibited in Russia, RAPSI learnt from the court’s press-service on Thursday.
The court’s commission has dismissed an appeal filed by Emirov against February 20 ruling of the Moscow District Military Court sentencing him to 5.5 years in a penal colony.
Earlier, it has been reported that in 2015 Emirov fell under the influence of ISIS recruiter, embraced ideas of radical Islam and left Russia for Turkey in September of the same year. Emirov planned to cross the Turkish border and participate in fights on the organization’s side but he and several other people were arrested by Turkhish border patrol in December 2015. Later, he was deported to Russia and charged with participation in a terrorist organization.
