ST. PETERSBURG, May 23 (RAPSI) – The Moscow District Military Court has sentenced two recruiters for the ISIS terrorist organization, prohibited in Russia, while on a session in St. Petersburg, the Investigative Committee’s press-service stated on Tuesday.
Defendants were found guilty of contributing to terrorist activity and unlawful trafficking of explosives. One of the defendants was sentenced to 6.5 years in a penal colony, while another one received a 6-year prison term.
In May 2016, two citizens of Tajikistan were arrested on suspicion of recruiting on behalf of ISIS. Religious literature and attributes, along with explosive materials, were found during the searches at place of suspects’ residence.
