MOSCOW, July 1 (RAPSI) – Ex-chief of the Federal Antimonopoly Service’s Dagestan Directorate Kubasay Kubasayev on Monday received 5 years in prison for taking over 2 million rubles in bribes (over $30,000), RAPSI reports from Moscow’s Lefortovsky District Court.
Additionally, he was fined 10.3 million rubles (nearly $170,000) and prohibited from taking public posts for 5 years.
The court found that the former official received money, Swiss watches and a sporting gun for a total of more than 2 million rubles from Shamil Kadiyev, the director of the republic’s state public institution Office of the Single State Customer - Developer. In return, he promised not to obstruct the holding of auctions for the right of concluding government contracts by the organization.
Kubasayev pleaded not guilty.
