MOSCOW, December 21 (RAPSI) – The Moscow City Court on Monday vacated sentence of ex-judge of the Moscow Commercial Court Igor Korogodov and attorney Alexander Mosin, who had received 3.5 and 2 years in jail for $70,000 fraud attempt, the court’s press service told RAPSI.
The case was sent back to a lower court for reconsideration.
The Moscow City Court therefore overturned their sentence for the second time. According to the first ruling, Korogodov and Mosin were sentenced to 5.5 and 3 years in penal colony respectively in December 2018.
Investigators claimed that in January 2016, Korogodov offered legal assistance of Mosin to a former director of one of firms in a bankruptcy case. He promised the businessman that the lawyer could assist in the further delivery of a ruling in his favor. The judge asked $70,000 for his help.
The defendants were arrested when receiving the money. It was found that Korogodov and Mosin planned to spend $70,000 in their discretion.
