ST. PETERSBURG, October 10 (RAPSI) – The Leningrad Regional Court on Monday recognized crimes committed by the Nazis in the region during the Great Patriotic War as genocide.

The court therefore granted a petition filed by the Leningrad Region’s prosecutor Sergey Zhukovsky in full.

Сhair of the Volunteers of Victory movement, lawmaker Olga Zanko called the court hearing a historic event confirming legal truth.

Several similar trials were earlier held in Russia. Previously, similar processes have taken place in the Pskov, Novgorod, Bryansk, Rostov and Oryol regions and in the Republic of Crimea.
