MOSCOW, June 5 (RAPSI) – Prosecutors have exposed violations during the organization of a Joe Cocker concert in Kazan on June 5, the Prosecutor General’s Office stated on Wednesday.
“Some of the songs performed by Joe Cocker are protected by copyright. The organizers should have obtained permission to perform them from the Russian Authors’ Society (RAO) and paid the corresponding royalty fees,” the office reported.
Tatconcert, which organized Cocker’s concert in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, only signed a license agreement for the singer’s concert with RAO, an NGO created by authors to protect copyright and intellectual property rights, after the prosecutors interfered.
