KIEV, December 2 (RAPSI) – Police in Kiev have partially established the identities of those responsible for having organized the protests that have erupted in in the Ukrainian capital, according to the Interior Ministry's Facebook account.
According to the statement, approximately 100 people are thought to have helped organize the riots near the building of the Cabinet of Ministers, and more than 300 are suspected in connection with the riots near the Presidential Administration.
Much of this information is said to have been obtained from activists detained during the rally.
Mass rallies against government policies were held in Kiev on Sunday. 35 activists were detained; the police drew up administrative protocols and then released the protesters. According to medics, 35 people have been injured. Twelve police officers were also injured in the clashes with protesters.
On Sunday, a court in Kiev ordered a ban on holding mass protests in the city from 1 December till January 7.
The Ukrainian government announced November 21 it was halting plans to sign long-anticipated trade and association deals with the EU, because of the damage it would do to trade with Russia. It said it would seek closer cooperation with Russia and the Moscow-led Customs Union, which includes Belarus and Kazakhstan.
