KIEV, January 14 (RAPSI) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk has demanded that the Justice Ministry and the Prosecutor General’s Office designate the formations known as Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics as terrorist organizations, RIA Novosti reports on Monday.
Late in 2014, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine heard a bill to designate the two self-proclaimed republics as terrorist organizations, but it was voted down later.
Yatsenyuk also called on international organizations to designate the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics as terrorist organizations.
On Tuesday, the Ukrainian law enforcement and security authorities announced that a shell hit a passenger bus near a village of Volnovakha in the Donetsk Region, killing 12 and wounding 18 people. Kiev blamed the attack on the self-defense forces.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said the incident was a terrorist attack. The authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics refused to accept responsibility for the tragedy, saying that the area where the bus was shelled was beyond the range of their artillery systems.
