MOSCOW, January 22 (RAPSI) – Members of the Federation Council on Wednesday anonymously confirmed appointment of Igor Krasnov to the post of the Russian Prosecutor General, the press service of the parliament’s upper house reports.
On Tuesday, the Federation Council’s Committees for Constitutional Legislation and State Building, and Defense and Security recommended that the senators affirm the candidacy. President Vladimir Putin offered him as a candidate for the post of Prosecutor General on January 20.
The former deputy chief of the Russian Investigative Committee Krasnov has investigated such high-profile cases as attempted murder of Chairman of the Executive Board of Rusnano Anatoly Chubais, killing of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova, murder of politician Boris Nemtsov and others.
